Man Says He Can’t Come To Terms With The ‘Awful’ Name Chosen For His Niece 


A man is going viral after claiming how he can’t accept the awful name of his niece.

According to media reports, he continues to argue with his brother and his sister in law after pointing out a potential issue with the name selection. In the same way, he explained how such a name choice would lead to major bullying in the West, in case the parents don’t change it.

Reports suggested how the soon to be parents were adamant about naming their daughter after the man’s wife, who sadly passed away recently. However, that didn’t go down too well with the man who says that their daughter will resent them for the rest of their lives.

The future parents explained how they wish to call their child “Aanal” which is the Indian name for ‘fire.’ But the pressure to think of another name is immense, explained the couple.

In addition, the man decided to take up his niece’s name issue with social media. For this reason, he posted the matter on Reddit, sparking up a massive debate. Here, people discussed whether or not they felt the family should consider changing the name or not. After all, fitting into the cultural norms of the US isn’t simple.

The man wrote, “My older brother, and sister in law, are soon due with their first baby. She’s coming in the next few months and I feel terrible about their name choice.”

He also mentioned how he was an Indian and how the couple wished to name their daughter after his deceased wife.

Putting his perspective in front of the audience, he went on explaining how he feels for his sister in law. But he can’t watch his niece getting bullied with mispronunciations as it’s an Indian name and they live in the wealthiest part of Dallas, Texas.

Just the thought of people elongating A-A-A-Nal makes it a million times worse, he explained. The post stirred up plenty of people’s reactions. And that started giving him advice.
