5-Year-Old Boy Shot Dead In The Head For Riding Bike Into ‘Neighbor’s Yard’


In one of the most heart-wrenching episodes of crime ever, a 5-year-old boy was shot dead in his head, after entering his neighbor’s yard with his bike.

According to reports, the entire incident took place in front of the little boy’s sisters.

North Carolina’s police officials charged the 25-year-old neighbor for carrying out first-degree murder. Other reports claim that the exact motive behind the killing is still under investigation.

The convicted neighbor was identified as Darius Sessoms who was immediately taken into police custody, within 24 hours of the horrifying incident. 5 year old, Cannon Hinnant was innocently playing with his sisters in the afternoon, when the gruesome act took place.

Witnesses claim that Sessoms shot Cannon at a point-blank distance, right into his head. The young child’s mother claimed that his two sisters, a 7-year-old and an 8-year-old, saw the entire event take place in front of their eyes.

Sessoms lived right next door to Cannon, and the entire family knew him for years. For this reason, it doesn’t seem to be a random act of killing. Moreover, reports showed how Sessoms recently met Cannon’s father, Austin, over dinner on Friday. Similarly, neighbors explained how he also visited Austin at his house, on Sunday.

While the exact motive or cause of the killing is yet to be determined, a GoFundMe was created in honor of the little 5-year-old child. And the family member who started it says that the real reason for Cannon’s death was related to how the young child rode into his neighbor’s yard

Cannon was a beautiful young boy, who many say had a smiling face and the most generous of hearts. Moreover, his grandparents claim that the young child was brave and courageous too.

The 5-year-old child was all set to begin Kindergarten on Monday. Likewise, he was excited as he just learned how to write his name.

After the incident, police were immediately called to the scene. And that’s when they saw the child lying with a gunshot wound. Despite rushing him to the hospital, emergency responders couldn’t save his life.
