6-year-old Boy And Mother Among 5 Shot in Brooklyn During J’Ouvert Celebration


A large number of people were gathered to celebrate the J’Ouvert, injuring 5 people after gunshots were fired.

This terrifying incident happened on early Monday morning, people gathered in Brooklyn to celebrate J’Ouvert where 5 people were shot, including a 6-year-old boy.

According to the police and the bystanders, at around 3 am the fire was shot at the corner of Nostrand Avenue and Crown Street in Crown Heights, and about 300 people were there for the J’Ouvert celebration.

Police said that three men and a woman were shot, also his 6-year-old son who got shot in his thigh. All rushed to the hospital, and luckily all five of them at out of danger. 

J’Ouvert and the West Indian Day events were canceled due to coronavirus regulations, but people still decided to gather in the early hours to celebrate.

Joshua Kristal, who was marching with the crowd said that everything was really crazy and after the shots, everyone was shocked.point 228 |

He said that there was a boy who was one of the victims of the gunshot; after getting shot, he struck with his mother who then rushed to help him.point 117 | He said his mother was carrying him, and he had a lot of blood on his pants, which was quite visible.point 198 | point 198 | 1

Kristal said the boy’s mother also got shot in her foot and was screaming, then he rushed to her, hold her food, and applied pressure on it, and waited for the medics to come.

According to New York City Police Chief Terence Monahan, they have arrested two people, and both of them were carrying guns, but it is unclear who was the shooter.
