A 51-year-old veteran cop who was posted in the Capitol, allegedly committed suicide after the DC riots left another officer dead.
Authorities and sources mentioned on Sunday how he died, just days after responding to the devastating riots in DC. The shocking incident at the Capitol rocked the nation, leading to a series of protests and a siege on the Congress. In the end, the deadly aftermath entailed 5 deaths, including another member from the cop’s own department.
51-year-old Howard Liebengood died while he was off duty, on Saturday, as announced by his own department via a public statement.
The department also shed light on how the officer was assigned duties towards the Senate Division, being a part of the same department since April 2005. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family members, colleagues, and friends,” it mentioned.
