44-year-old Douglas Brian Jackway was released on Tuesday under strict conditions set by the Supreme Court.

He will be required to wear a GPS tracker and live in Wacol Correctional Center when he is released on a community protection order.

According to the judgment summary, the conditions set by the Supreme Court would be enough to protect the community.

“He has taken significant time, with the assistance of rehabilitation programs and treatment, to reach a point of maturation and develop methods to exercise self-control over his emotions and behaviour for the Court to reach a view that he can be managed on a supervision order,” the summary read.

“Any risk of his reoffending can be reduced to an acceptable level and the community can be adequately protected by a supervision order.”

Jackway has a lengthy criminal history that includes sexual offending against a girl and a boy in the 1990s, and was sentenced to life in prison back in March 2014 for murder.

He was also the prime suspect for the murder of schoolboy Daniel Morcombe in 2003 due to the nature of his crimes, was later ruled out as detectives.

During his time in prison, Jackway committed more than 113 violations, which includes acts of violence against other prisoners.

He was also caught threatening to kill a young girl during a phone call with his sister.

“She wants to pray that I never get out of jail mate,” he allegedly said.

“I swear to you, if I ever get out of jail, she is one dead b**** mate. I’ll knock the c*** mate.”

Jackway was previously described as a “biological psychopath” and the court was warned that he could pose a “high risk of re-offending” without supervision.
