Watts had been receiving letters from the public since he was imprisoned, but a source claims that the number of people writing to him increased since the show aired.

The source spoke with Watts in prison, and admitted that the inmate received “a lot of letters of first”, many from women who “thought he was handsome and felt a lot of compassion for him.”

“He had nothing better to do, so he wrote them back. And he started having penpals. A couple of them stood out, and they’ve kept in contact,” the source added.

Despite of his crimes, the women writing to Watts doesn’t seem to be put off, but rather feel compassion for him.

An insider confirmed that Watts did receive more letters since the documentary aired on Netflix, but assured that not all of those letters are compassionate.

“Some of the letters are angry. A lot of them are from people of faith who want to pray for him. But then he gets letters from women who want to connect with him, you know, romantically,” the source said.

While the source did not exactly say how many letters arrived for Watts in the week after the show’s release, they said it has been “more than 10.”

Since Watts is in protective custody and only allowed to leave his cell for an hour a day, he responds to the letters sent to him because “he doesn’t have anything better to do.”
