The Robert Koch Institute, the German federal government agency responsible for disease control and prevention, made the claim on Tuesday as it strengthened the threat risk for Germany from ‘moderate’ to ‘high’.

This news came after German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared yesterday that meetings will be prohibited in churches, mosques and synagogues and said playgrounds and un-essential shops will shut as the country approaches 7,000 reported cases and 14 deaths.

The amount of time relies as to how many people develop immunity to COVID-19 after showing symptoms, how many of them test positive for the disease and how long it would take to produce a vaccine, says RKI President Lothar Wieler.

However, Dr Wieler did not dismiss the possibility for countries to choose to stay in position for the time for a few of the emergency steps.
