Kidnapper of Ohio nurse and alleged murderer of her mother was killed during gunfire exchange at Louisiana hotel.
FBI agents reached 47-year-old James Edward Hawley, aka Ahmad Ben David, at Louisiana Hotel in Pineville on Tuesday. He had kept 45-year-old Thoue Nichole Bronowski in the hotel without her consent. Authorities said Bronowski was reported missing last week, and her mother Norma Matko, 69, was fatally shot by the kidnapper at her residence in Barnesville on Thanksgiving day.
According to the investigation reports, Hawley killed Norma and took her daughter to Cleveland in Norma’s car; he must have changed the car in the middle before reaching Louisiana.
Bronowski and Hawley had been in a relationship in the past, but the relationship status was not discussed in detail by the authorities.
On Thanksgiving day, Bronowski’s ex-husband reported her missing to the police.Jack Davis, the Police Chief said he was happy with the team’s effort as rescuing Bronowski alive was their only concern.
Bronowski serves as a nurse at Akron Public Schools, and she also works as a clinical coordinator for Akron Children’s Hospital.She is currently in severe trauma, and it will take some time for her to return to normal.
FBI Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jeff Fortunato posted photos of the rescue on social media and declared that the suspect wanted to kill the officers, but himself got killed in operation.
None of the FBI agents died during the rescue.
However, one of the officers got critical injuries and is receiving treatment. The officers had a federal warrant against the suspect when they reached the site. After seeing his violent approach, they had no option left except for shooting him.Police are trying to reach Bronowski’s family, but Fortunato tells the media that no more information related to this case will be made public.
