Jacques was judged and criticized by members of Democrats for his comments by House Speaker Pete Schwartzkopf, House Majority Leader Valerie Longhurst, and House Majority Whip Larry Mitchell in a joint statement.

Jacques apologized, he said that it was wrong of him to judge or impose other people’s belief system onto others. He added, his job is to represent all constituents of the 27th District, regardless of gender, race, orientation, or identity.

Morrison said, this doesn’t change the fact that Jacques voted against gay marriage in 2013, and refused to vote yes or no on banning gay conversion therapy, those votes hurt him and will always hurt.

On Tuesday, a crowd of voters came out for Morrison, who won against his opponent, Jacques,  61% to 39%.
