“Derek Chauvin May Get LONGER Jail Term For ‘Particular Cruelty’ In George Floyd’s Murder”- Says Judge


A judge from Minnesota recently ruled how former cop Derek Chauvin might be in store for a harsher jail sentence than what many may have predicted.

Moreover, the judge spoke about how there were a number of aggravating factors involved in the case relating to George Floyd’s murder. Therefore, Wednesday’s ruling would indirectly pave room for a harsher and longer jail sentence for the former cop from Minneapolis, confirmed by local media outlets.

Derek Chauvin was recently found guilty of brutally murdering George Floyd by kneeling upon his neck for nearly 9 minutes.

However, Chauvin is yet to be sentenced and is therefore waiting for the sentencing date, which will reportedly take place on the 25th of June. On the other hand, Derek Chauvin has waived off his right relating to a jury determining his actual sentence. And that means it will be up to judge Peter Cahill, who was in charge of presiding over the trial, to set forward his punishment for the trial.

In the same way, all of the prosecutors who pushed forward for Derek Chauvin to get a harsher punishment now presented the court with a total of 5 different aggravating factors that they feel justify the need for a longer jail sentence.point 320 |

Moreover, the judge went ahead and confirmed how strongly he felt that Derek Chauvin was guilty of abusing his position of authority and command as well as trust. He also went on to boldly mention how the former police officer treated Floyd with the most intense cruelty.
