Four intellectually disabled adult children were found living with their mother’s rotting corpse, who was thought to have died in 2018.

A Davidson County deputy went to the home of 56-year-old Larinda Jolly in Nashville on October 21 to serve an eviction notice, but instead made a shocking discovery.

What they found was Jolly’s remains found on her bed, under a pile of clothes.

“There was nothing left but bones, it was just a skeleton,” her brother, Anthony Jolly, said in the interview.

“I called my niece, and I asked her how long had my sister been deceased and when she said since early 2017, I was shocked.”

He said that he and his sister were not close, and her children would say that she was not available to talk every time he would call to check on the household.

The children’s actions prompted Anthony to ask police officers to perform a wellness check on his sister.

“My niece said, ‘Yes my momma’s body is upstairs in the bed.’ They went up, removed some clothing and uncovered a foot. And that’s when they told everybody back out,” shared Anthony.

“She was on a bed, they piled clothes on top of her body and they stayed in the apartment with their decaying mother,” he said, referring to the discovery of his sister’s remains.

“They knew better, but they were going by what their mother said, they were obeying their mother’s wishes – just let her lay there, no matter what.”

“Don’t call anybody, and that’s what they done,” he added.

The authorities launched an investigation over Jolly’s death, although they said they do not suspect any foul play.

Her body has been sent for autopsy, but initial findings suggest there were no signs of trauma or foul play and her cause of death remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Jolly’s four children have been taken to a hotel until Adult Protective Services find a caretaker for them, and the Nashville Inner City Ministry is trying to find a place for the woman’s children to live.
