Ed Sheeran Donates £200k To School Where He Met His Wife


Ed Sheeran has donated £200,000 ($260,000) to his former high school where he met his wife, Cherry Seaborn.

The 29-year-old singer gave the funds to Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk  help procure musical and photography equipment, computers and art resources in hopes to aid establishment to achieve its best ever results.

“The grant sets the school apart in access to exceptional arts provision,” said the school’s director of music Richard Hanley.

“Thank you. I feel privileged to work in a school with such excellent facilities.”

Head of art Nikki Sholl shared how Sheeran’s generosity resulted in the best in the six years the photography course has run, with more than 92% of the students getting an A* to C.

“It’s difficult to express just how positively this grant has impacted on teaching and pupils’ experience,” she added.

Sheeran left the school to study at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey, where he famously got a string of Fs.

In 2009, he left without permission to support hip-hop artist Just Jack, which is now worth around £200 million.

This is not the first time the hit maker gave money for charity, as reports indicate that he had so far given away over £1 million of his own wealth to benefit charities.

Currently, he is auctioning off his childhood toys and handwritten lyrics to raise money for a charity in Suffolk.

He is also spending “tens of thousands of pounds” to build his own forest on his £3.7 million Suffolk estate.

According to a source: “He’s spent tens of thousands of pounds on the project – and Cherry’s involved too as she’s into re-wilding and sustainability.”

“A huge field where his outdoor wildlife pond will become a dense wood in a few years and he’s planted trees six deep around the perimeter to afford him privacy,” the source added.

“It’ll help reduce the carbon footprint of him being a touring rock star too.”
