A mum is going viral for leaving her 5-year-old son traumatized after her holiday prank backfired.

30-year-old Tanya Lee admitted to her mistake, referring to herself as a ‘bad parent.’ Meanwhile, sources confirmed how the mother played a cruel Elf on the Shelf prank. Unfortunately, she didn’t think twice before carrying it out, leaving her son in tears.

The holiday-themed prank consisted of Tanya convincing her young 5-year-old, Oscar, that hist toy Grinch ate up the elf that was present in their home’s kitchen. Unknowing of the effects that they might leave on her son, she continued to play along.

As a result, little Oscar cried his heart out for a good 30 minutes. Moreover, he refuses to trust the Grinch. Also, he keeps his toy Grinch far away from the Elf on the Shelf, situated at their residence in Norfolk.

On the other hand, the mother went to great extents to make sure her prank looked as real as possible. She surely thought outside the box when it came to creativity. Pictures of the incident went viral and you have to give the mother due credit for her creative thinking.

In regards to the incident, Tanya explains how the family enjoyed a scrumptious chicken roast dinner a day before. The fact that the leftover bones appeared shaped like a picture-perfect elf’s skeleton gave her the idea to start the prank

However, little did she know that it wouldn’t go down too well with Oscar, who is just 5 years old.

“My little boy cried and cried for a good half hour,” she explained. And his first words were how the Grinch should never have eaten her and how the Grinch isn’t allowed to eat her.

In the end, the mother tried her best to convince Oscar how it was a ‘silly little joke.’ And truly one that she won’t be repeating in a really long time.
