2020 has unpacked a series of troublesome events for the whole world.
It started with Australian bushfires which spread across millions of acres burning down everything it touched. Nearly 1.2 billion animals of different species lost their lives to this monstrous fire and Koalas were the most affected by it.
This is only a conservative estimate excluding homeless animals out. As per the reports, nearly 12% of koalas were dead in this deadly incident which put the entire species in danger of extinction.
Thankfully, now with the start of a new breeding season, a new beacon of hope has shined on the horizon as New South Wales zoo has recently welcomed its first baby koala named Ash.
Australian Reptile Park in Somersby where this miracle happened, has announced to reopen from June 1 as it was previously shut down owing to the on-going pandemic.
According to the authorities, the staff, however, was on work during the lockdown making sure the animals are regularly fed and kept under safety protocols. The zookeepers at Australia Reptile Park are calling Ash a hope for the country’s future native wildlife.
The park took it to social media to announce this joyous news with its wellwishers and shared a small video. The human caregivers, in the video, can be seen embracing the mother koala.

The team at the Australian Reptile Park knew of the birth of Ash all this time but interfered with the mother now only to check on both mother and baby.
