“I knew my sexuality since I was very young. I always had a plan of adopting children as I can’t have one”, said Robert Carter

Robert, 29, is from Cincinnati, Ohio. In December 2018, he took Robert Jr, Giovanni, and Kiontae under his wing. The kids were 9, 5, and 4-year-old, respectively. Robert later came to know that the three kids have two more sisters, 10 and 8. The siblings have not met each other for six months.

“I tracked out the foster mum of the two missing sisters and arranged a reunion for the siblings. The five siblings get so emotional for seeing each other after so long. They kept hugging each other and were full of tears,” said Robert.

The scene deeply touched me, and that was the moment I decided I’ll do something so they can all live together under one roof. He also said that he was separated from his eight siblings when he was a child; thus, he can understand their pain.

“We grew apart from each other, and the pain of missing the siblings during your best phase of life is undoubtedly worst. I experienced this, but I don’t want anyone else to suffer from this. I was adopted by a lady when my youngest sibling was just 2, and I didn’t see him for 14 years.

Rober said it is not as difficult as people think. It is not a problem if you don’t have a large house or you are single. All you need to have is a big heart. There are thousands of children who need homes. I hope people understand the importance of setting up as foster parents.

“I was so relieved after taking the decision. Seeing the five kids together, smiling and playing makes me cry,” said Robert. GoFundMe had raised the fund so they can get a bigger house. Robert said he felt so obliged and humbled for setting an example. He’s loving how people are showing support and love to his family.

Raising five kids is not a piece of cake, and that too, when they’re not your own, but Robert said, “My 5 kids are amazing, and we are so happy together.”
