She then told doctors in Hospital de Las Margaritas in east-central Mexico: “I want to die, don’t heal me anymore.”

A concerned neighbor took the young girl to the hospital where she was diagnosed with a collapsed lung, internal bleeding, cigarette burns, and signs of sexual abuse.

Her parents, Rafael N and Alejandra N, are now being investigated and have been detained after it was discovered that the girl’s 3-year-old sister passed away under suspicious circumstances.

Police are also searching for one of the girl’s uncles who allegedly raped her.

The victim was previously hospitalized with signs of severe injuries and trauma blows all over her body in 2019, as well as in February, May, and August this year but nothing was done to help her.

In February, she was hospitalized with cut legs but Rafael N said to doctors that his daughter had done it to herself.

It was Frida Guererra who brought the case to Mayor Claudia Rivera Vivanco to get the girl on the municipal Development of Family Integrity (DIF) program.

She raised questions against the Puebla government which she believes hasn’t conducted a thorough investigation.

Guererra also claims that the arrest of both the father and mother is an attempt to silence the criticism of the way the case was handled, and over why the government failed to act when concerns were raised about the children’s well being in 2019 and in February, May, and August.

“If the Puebla authorities had done their job since January, which was the first moment that there were indications that the girl had suffered sexual violence, the girl would not be in the hospital now, and Mitzi (her little sister) would not be dead,” Guererra said.

“Of course there is institutional responsibility in this.”
