Stubborn Gym Owner Who Refused To Shut Business In Lockdown Contracts COVID-19


A gym owner from Merseyside who refused to shut his business during the lockdown contracted COVID-19.

With the United Kingdom plunged into Tier 3, he explained how there was no question of closing his business. And that’s because he felt gyms were necessary for the overall health of the population.

Unfortunately, his decision slapped him in the face when news broke out about him contracting the virus. Nick Whitcombe stayed true to his call by keeping Body Tech Fitness open. However, all other businesses in Moreton, Wirral in Merseyside remained closed.

Currently, Britain is facing a major pandemic crisis with cases rising by the second. Despite the British Prime Minister’s orders of plunging the country into a Tier 3 lockdown, many fail to listen. And Nick just might be one of them.

Meanwhile, Nick explained to media sources how gyms were a quintessential part of life. In the same way, he described how they are necessary for providing the mental and physical wellbeing of the population, even during a pandemic.

Reports suggest how one member of the public called up the police when they realized that his business didn’t shut, like others. On that note, officers warned him that he needed to obey the laws of the country and shut his doors.

Shortly after this same incident, 7 or 8 armed police officers flooded the gym, ordering the owner to kick out all of his customers. In addition, the Merseyside Police fined him £1000.

However, when announcements of Lancashire entering into a tier 3 lockdown made their way on the news, gyms were given permission to open again. Mr. Whitcombe who even made appearances on tv to raise awareness about his case soon contracted the deadly virus.

He tested positive on December 29th, stating how he was experiencing mild symptoms like fatigue, sore throat, and a raised temperature. Also, he took to his Instagram to reveal the news to his 91,000 followers by saying, ‘Inevitable I suppose wasn’t it…”
