Japanese Mayor Says Men Should Grocery Shop As Women Take Too Long

In an attempt to appraise and enlighten the general masses, governments are opting for different tactics.

They are advising their people to steer clear of all the things that need to be avoided at any and every cost. Most governments, in this day and age, have an uncompromising attitude towards social distancing because it is the prime cause of rapid transmission.

One such advice was given by a mayor in Japan not long ago, and people had mixed reactions to it. Some found it hilarious and some acknowledged the crux of his statement and some simply took the offense — but it did receive a lot of glare, to be concise.

Even when the entire city is choked, families need to come out of their homes to buy essentials for the sake of survival. Mayor Ichiro Matsui clearly suggested men to go grocery shopping and not women. He vindicated his absurd suggestion by accusing women of squandering time in the grocery markets.

He recently advised women to stay inside their homes and send out their husbands for groceries. He conjured up a theory in his head according to which women take more time than men when they’re out shopping, hence, he suggested that they should stay within the confinement during the lockdown.

It’s not the first time he gave any controversial statement. Before that, he forbade couples to go shopping together during lockdown. Both of his statements abruptly received severe criticism due to which he was left embarrassed. No exaggeration, the mayor had his foot in his mouth both times.
