Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Franciso and the guy who dated Kamala Harris in 1990, also started a similar campaign. “Kamala Harris was the second black woman ever in the US senate. We don’t expect Gavin Newsom to appoint someone other than a woman of color to Harris’ seat” he said. Brown proposed Karen Bass, Barbara Lee, Holly Mitchell, and Maxine Waters as options for the new candidate.
