A lawyer from Northern Texas has been fired after he participated in a pro-Trump mob that stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday.

Paul Davis, who was an Associate General Counsel and Director of Human Resources for Goosehead Insurance, posted an Instagram story wherein he narrated outside the Capitol.

“Got tear gassed today. That was quite an experience,” Davis, who was wearing a red Make America Great Again cap, complains in the video.

“All we’re doing is demanding that our public officials audit the vote.”

“The fact that they will not let us inspect any of the ballots or the machines should tell you something,” he added.

“We’re all trying to get into the Capitol to stop this, and this is what’s happening. They’re tear-gassing us. It’s not acceptable. The people are not going to stand for this.”

Roger Sollenberger, an Austin-based reporter at Salon.com, uncovered the said video on Twitter and tagged Davis’ employer.

The insurance company replied to Sollenberger’s tweet, and announced that Davis “is no longer employed by Goosehead.”

The company, however, did not clarify whether Davis was fired or voluntarily left the company.

Davis could not be reached for a comment, but he disputed allegations that he “stormed” the Capitol through his Instagram account.

“It’s obvious from my entire story that I was peacefully demonstrating,” he defended.

“They gassed the entire crowd that was standing there with me. I was not trying to break in. Was just talking to the police officers and praying over them.”

“I said ‘trying to get into the Capitol,’ meaning to voice a protest. Not in any violent way,” he added.

Supporters of the president had stormed the Capitol in a violent mob, while repeated Trump’s baseless claims about fraud in the election that he lost to President-elect Joe Biden.

They interrupted Congress and delayed the formal certification of Biden’s victory, breaking windows and climbing walls.
