News agencies confirmed how John Burns died at the age of 98. He was from Edinburgh and got his first job at the law firm, known as TC Young Wilson Terris when he was just 14 years old.

Media sources described how he applied for the job, right after passing an exam. Moreover, he loved his workplace so much that he continued working there for 84 long years. And that meant right up until his death, just last month.

Just recently, Mr. John spoke about retiring from his duties, weeks before his death. However, he had not officially retired yet.

Till his last breath, he continued to serve with great determination and loyalty. And that meant delivering ribbon-bound court documents, all around the Court of Session.

Meanwhile, experts say that John missed out on getting recognition as the world’s longest-serving employee for one reason. And that was because he served as a World War Two radio operator. Therefore, that broke his continuous streak of employment.

Currently, the record for the longest-serving employee is under Walter Orthmann’s name. He was a citizen of Brazil who worked for 81 years and 85 days.

John’s loved ones stated how he passed away in his sleep, right inside his residence at Meadowbank, last month. It was just a short while after he celebrated his birthday.

His daughter in law described John’s undue passion for his duties by saying how ‘he lived for his job.’ He would often get sighted as running for a bus in the early morning hours. And it’s not something you see quite often for someone his age, in today’s time.

Starting off with all of his responsibilities in the year 1936, he held a variety of positions in the firm. This includes a legal messenger, office messenger, and a cashier too. Without a doubt, he serves as a legendary role model for today’s new generation when it comes to exemplary character and work ethics.
