According to court records and Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer’s office, the Pennsylvania man admitted to the voter fraud and that he did it because he wanted the then-president Donald Trump to be reelected.

Bruce Bartman, 70, got the probation sentence last week after entering a guilty plea to two counts of perjury and one count of unlawful voting. He will also lose his right to vote for four years pursuant to Pennsylvania statute.

Based on the voter records, Bartman used Pennsylvania’s online voter-registration portal to register both his deceased mother, Elizabeth Bartman, and his late mother-in-law, Elizabeth Weihman, who died in 2019.

CNN reported that Bartman then requested, filled out, and sent in the absentee ballot for his deceased mother in the last year’s general election.

Defense attorney Samuel Stretton said that his client regrets his actions. He then explained to the court that Bartman had been isolated at home because of coronavirus pandemic and that he was misled by statements and propaganda about voter fraud.

“This was his way of misguided political dissent,” Stretton said. “He accepts the responsibility.”
