Senator Ted Cruz made heads turn recently after he faced off with a ‘lefty’ reporter at a press conference on Wednesday.

The Senator reportedly took on a journalist from Capitol Hill who requested Cruz to wear a mask as that would make other reporters feel better. But that was enough to enrage the Texas-based senator who boldly replied with, “Yeah, when I’m talking to the television camera, I am not going to wear a mask.”

Cruz also spoke about how he was vaccinated and so were the other leading members of the Senate that were situated by his side. While the unnamed reporter was adamant about his call for requesting the Senator for donning a mask, the entire episode quickly turned sour.

Cruz stayed true to his stance and made his position throughout the conference. Moreover, he chose to write upon the topic via a post through Twitter where he mentioned, “Lefty reporters have lost their minds.”

However, Ted Cruz is not the first famous figure from US politics to face criticism for not donning a mask while attending a public gathering. Recently, the White House press secretary, Jen Psaki, also had to defend her decision of not wearing a mask as she spoke from her briefing room’s podium, earlier.

Speaking to the New York Times, Psaki mentioned how she would not mind wearing a mask during her briefings if health and medical experts told her to do so. But since they didn’t, she never felt the need of doing so.
