Bill de Blasio cancels all the major events and gatherings in the city amidst Coronavirus threats till September 30th.
He believes the city should prioritize public places for people who want to enjoy fresh air keeping the social distance measures.
This means the West Indian Day Parade and the Feast of San Gennaro will also not be celebrated this year. The decision came following the public flocking towards Coney Island, newly reopened beaches.

The critics, on the contrary, are not happy with this decision as they believe if the BLM protests can be permitted, other gatherings should be too. There has been a mixed response to it as people are sharing their sentiments on social media over this.
Though the majority of NY residents agree to the decision saying such kind of measures are necessary to stop the coronavirus from spreading but they’re equally sad on how they will miss their favorite public events this year.
