NYC Protest Takes Ugly Turn As Man Viciously Attempts To Strangle NYPD Cop With Chain


The protests in New York City are getting out of hand as a man attempted to strangle an NYPD cop.

According to reports, a protester shoved an NYPD officer towards the ground, attempting to strangle him. The rather shocking news broke out on Thursday, during the high profile Manhattan demonstrations.

Meanwhile, police confirmed how the baffling alleged attack occurred in the vicinity near Bond Street, close to Noho’s Broadway.

Moreover, this was the second night whereby protests continued to rock the area. In the end, it resulted in around 18 arrests, as confirmed by Police sources.

The state’s police department tweeting out images of the chain used in the strangling attempt, alongside another message: ‘Violence- in any shape or form is not acceptable. Therefore, we will review this incident and bring about the perpetrators towards justice.’

On the other hand, local media sources confirmed how Jumaane Williams, a public advocate, alongside other press members, were also attacked. This was during another set of violent protests that took place on Thursday night.

Recently, a viral Twitter video by Wall Street Journal’s reporter, Katie Honan, depicts how cops used their bicycles in an attempt to move Williams back. And that’s when the city’s lawmakers poured in with comments, condemning the intense encounter as a whole.

The comments revolved around calling out New York City’s mayor to look into the matter. “Our Public Advocate is famous for arriving at protests, just so she can join New Yorkers, to help de-escalate tensions. There is really no sense in this,” they exclaimed.

Another comment by the state’s Assemblywoman, Yuh-Line Niou expressed how it wasn’t acceptable to push a public advocate. She also questioned the city’s lawmakers regarding what is really going on, at the moment.

It seemed like the situation got out of police’s control, leaving them with very little options towards containing the crowd.
