Hundreds Of People Marched Maskless To Protest Against The National Lockdown


About 600 people were at the event on Sunday; on 8th November, many of the protesters took placards and yelled slogans in particular ‘Fight for Freedom,’ ‘No to Lockdown,’ and ‘Real Eyes Realize Real Lies.

According to Greater Manchester Police, a number of police officers were injured, four people were arrested, and 24 fixed fines of £200 were issued.

The police began an investigation to expose who organized the movement, along with trying to find that one group of attendees who had traveled to Greater Manchester from Cumbria.

Protestors repeatedly yelled, ‘take off your masks’ along with ‘freedom, freedom, freedom,’ while they went around the city center to complain against the national restrictions that are in place until the 2nd December, to fight off COVID-19.

In an announcement, Assistant Chief Constable Mabs Hussain said that today – the 8th of November – Greater Manchester Police acted in response to a large crowd in Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester City Centre. At the meeting exceeding the number of 600 people attended.

He said “I would like to use this opportunity to publicly condemn this gathering. Both the organizers and attendees were irresponsible”

Hussain added that police officers arrested four people on the charge of public order offenses and issued 24 £200 FPNs – Fixed Penalty Notices.

He said that this lawfulness is under the Anti-social Behavior, Crime and Policing Act 2014, officers authorized a Section 34 Dispersal Order. Meanwhile, the police officers were responding to the gathering; four of them got injured. Inspectors will work on finding those who are responsible and face justice.

Mabs Hussain continued, investigations proved that one group of participants traveled to Greater Manchester from Cumbria via coach.

He also mentioned that he wants to remind everyone that these restrictions are to control the spread of COVID-19 and protect them along with their loved ones. He encouraged people to fight the virus by staying at home.
