Actor Randy Quaid Wants To Run For California Governor Against Caitlyn Jenner


Actor Randy Quaid is ready to challenge Caitlyn Jenner for the position of California governor, saying he’s “seriously considering” running for the position in the coming election.

Quaid, 70, tweeted and said that he is serious about running for Governor in California to clean up prosecutorial corruption in the state after the actor had multiple encounters with the law.

“I’m seriously considering running for governor,” Quaid tweeted. “The prosecutorial corruption in California (esp Santa Barbara & the Bell scandal) is rampant, and I promise that if elected I will clean up the District Attorney Offices throughout the state.”

The hashtag “#RandyQuaid4CAGOV” was used by his brother Dennis Quaid to show support for his older brother’s announcement. Dennis is also known for his role in National Lampoon films.

Quaid is known for his dramatic roles in films. The actor got an Oscar nomination in The Last Detail (1973) and Midnight Express (1978) for his role as a prisoner alongside co-stars Brad Davis and John Hurt.

Fans were amazed by his comedic roles in the National Lampoon franchise that began with Vacation as Cousin Eddie together with Chevy Chase in 1983.

Quaid then again recast in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989), Vegas Vacation (1997), and Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie’s Island Adventure (2003). 

Some of Quaid’s notable films also include A Streetcar Named Desire (1984), LBJ: The Early Years (1987), Caddyshack II (1988), Parents (1989), Independence Day (1996), and Brokeback Mountain (2005).

 But over the last decade, the actor’s name was tainted with legal issues, conspiracy theories, and attempts to seek asylum in Canada.

Quaid said that he and his wife feared for their lives in the US that’s why he attempted to seek asylum in Canada. The couple was also arrested in 2009 for leaving a hotel in Santa Barbara, California without paying.

After a year, Quaid was arrested again for living and damaging a guest house on the property of a home they once owned.

Quaid’s request for Canadian citizenship was denied but Evidence, his wife was granted one in 2011. 

Prior to Quaid’s announcement, reality star and former athlete Caitlyn Jenner also said that she is considering running for the governor position in the state.

Jenner, 71, revealed her new slogan “Caitlyn For California through social media.

Jenner –a registered republican– voted for Trump in 2016 but not in 2020, however, she didn’t say anything about whether she’ll run as a Republican or Independent.

“I’m in! California has been my home for nearly 50 years,” Jenner posted on Instagram. “I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality.”
