Hit my goal with one month to spare!” Wilson captioned a photo of a scale, which read 164 lbs. “Even though it’s not about a weight number, it’s about being healthy, I needed a tangible measurement to have as a goal and that was 165 lbs.”

The actress went to Instagram to answer fans’ questions in a video, and later on, revealed the diet and fitness tips she did to lose 60 pounds (28kg).

Wilson said that as she approached her 40th birthday, her decision to freeze her eggs inspired her to make healthy changes.

“I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to do this, I’m going to get healthy,’” she said.

Wilson explained that it’s harder for her to lose weight due to her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), genetics, and emotional eating. But she remained committed to her goals over the year.

1 Wilson began her weight loss while filming the movie ‘Cats.’

Wilson’s weight loss transformation first began while she was filming Cats in 2019.

She told Entertainment Tonight that she lost eight pounds (4kg) in four days while filming.

“They heated up the set very high, to almost 100°F, so that we could never cool down,” she told ET. “These people are like, the best dancers in the whole world, so they can’t cool their muscles down or they could get an injury and they’d be out of the film.”

2. She lessen her junk food and sugar intake.

Wilson told Drew Barrymore in November that she previously suffered from emotional eating due to fame and would eat around 3,000 calories a day. (Public health guidelines currently suggest that adult women aim to consume a range of 1,600 to 2,400 calories per day.)

“There is a lot of stress that comes with it, and I guess my way of dealing with it was just eating donuts,” Wilson said. “So I was working on the mental side of things of ‘Why was I not doing that? Why was I not valuing myself and having better self-worth?’”

So she decided to make some healthy changes. In an Instagram post on January 2, the actress shared three photos from a walk and told her fans the lifestyle changes she was planning to make, like adding up on more water while avoiding sugar and junk food.

4. She hits the gym most days of the week.

Wilson’s favorite way to work out is walking.

“I know I’m in a lucky position, I do have access to really amazing personal trainers. But I want you guys to know that the majority of exercise I’ve done this year has just been me going out for a walk,” she said in a recent Instagram video. “That is free, you can do it, it’s safe.”

“Walking is the best way for me—for my body type—to metabolize fat,” she added. “On the physical side, my biggest tip, guys, is getting out there and walk. If you can do an hour, that’s what I like to do when I go walking, and it is the best. Just get your body moving.”

7. She uses TRX to build strength.

Wilson’s trainer said that a typical circuit the actress does in the gym involves the assault bike (as fast as possible until she reaches 10 calories burned), battle rope slams (30 seconds), and TRX squats (20 reps).

“I use the TRX as it focuses on using body weight and gravity as resistance to build strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, core, and joint stability,” the trainer said.

8. She holds herself accountable.

Wilson’s trainer encouraged her to share her progress on social media in order to keep her on top of her workouts.

“Keep yourself accountable, free posting on social,” he said. “Rebel has been posting for the whole 2020 about her journey, the ups, and downs.”

9. She practices self-love.

Wilson struggled with emotional eating and said that she still struggles sometimes.

“The old patterns still come up,” Wilson said. “Maybe not every day. But if I’m worried or anxious or whatever, it still comes up for me. It’s not something that’s just going to disappear, it’s just something I have to manage now moving forward.”

“It’s just about how you manage it and what you can do to … try to replace your unhealthy habits with healthy ones.”

“What I’ve found is that, why I was doing those unhealthy behaviors, is because I wasn’t treating myself with love and respect,” Wilson said. “I just wasn’t valuing myself.”

“What I was trying to do is change those habits so that you’re more loving and you’re treating yourself with more respect,” the actress continued. “I’m working on self-love, and that’s a hard concept to master.” To foster self-love, Wilson practices journaling, where she writes down all of her emotions. “I like to end in gratitude and write down what I’m blessed about,” she said. “Even if it’s something very small … that’s amazing.”
