Dozens of loyal politicians are leaving the Republican camp after disowning Trump’s ‘cult’ party.
According to media reports, lines of political officials have no choice but to leave the Republican party after making a thought-provoking decision. Blaming the deadly US Capitol siege as well as the ex-president’s bizarre and unsupported vote fraud claims as to their major reason for exit, the officials don’t plan on turning back, anytime soon.
These officials were always high up when it came to former US president George W. Bush and his administration. But after Trump’s reign, they’re frustrated as ever as lawmakers from the Republican camp continue to back Trump, despite his mega defeat against Joe Biden recently.
Some went as far as claiming that the Republican party just doesn’t feel the same anymore. For them, it’s almost as if it no longer exists. Dubbing it as the ‘cult of Trump,’ some even went as far as canceling a list of memberships too.
News outlets officially confirmed how around 60 to 70 officials from Bush’s administration had already exited from the party or willingly planned to cut off their ties. This piece of news was confirmed by Jimmy Gurule- a representative who served alongside Bush for nearly 6 years.
A member who worked for the White House Communications during Bush’s reign, Kristopher Purcell, added how the number of people leaving the Republican side keeps on increasing each day.
Over the last few months, so many incidents and occurrences left the whole Republican party. It was as if it was divided into those who loyally supported Trump and those who were simply appalled by the actions of patriots that took part in the US Capitol siege, killing 5 people on January 6th.
A former Treasurer of the US, Rosario Marin added how if the Republicans were solely restricted to a party of Trump, then many of the politicians wouldn’t consider going back. She did also mention one exception to the case and that was if the Senate convicts Trump, ridding the leaders from all forms of ‘Trump cancer.’
