New video footage showed a rather startling incident of a sheriff sergeant shooting a drunk man in California.
According to reports, the incident took place at a traffic stop, when the victim refused to obey the sergeants’ orders. On that note, the man continued to walk towards the officer, as revealed by the new bodycam footage. Meanwhile, the rather graphic nature content depicted Sergeant David Ackman yelling orders at the driver.
Juan Adrian Garcia, the drunk man in the scenario, refused to listen to the officer. At the same time, he didn’t even turn around. Despite getting pulled over by the cops due to his headlights off, he refused to listen.
News agencies claim that the incident took place on October 5th when the Mexican national was stopped by the police. His blood levels showed an alcohol level that was 4 times greater than the state’s limit. Right after stopping at the traffic signal, he tossed out his cell phone from his vehicle. Garcia then acted in a bold manner, advancing towards the officer.
During the incident’s video footage, you can see that he tucked one of his hands behind him.
Therefore, that prompted the officer to order him to stop. However, when he chose not to listen, the officer had no choice but to shoot 6 rounds of shots. They struck the Mexican national around 5 times in his torso, including once at the leg region.
47 year old Garcia lives in Napa. But soon enough, news broke out regarding his death at the hospital.
Furthermore, his blood tests confirmed how his alcohol levels reached a whooping 338 in his body.Similarly, investigators from the case confirmed how he did not possess any weapon during the incident. But the officer claims in his defense how he faced a deadly threat.
For that reason, he opened fire. Currently, he explains how a tasering tool wouldn’t be appropriate during such a time. Moreover, he felt his life was in danger and on that note, he had to think fast. But whether or not that was the appropriate call has many people in a dilemma.
