Spanish royals King Felipe and Queen Letizia have been tested for coronavirus after the Queen latest public activities exposed her to someone infected by the deadly virus.
She shook hands and kissed equality minister Irene Montero at an event in Madrid last Friday.
The Spanish minister was tested positive for COVID-19 and is now under quarantine together with her partner, deputy prime minister and Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias.
Reports say that the Montero is in good condition, and Iglesias is also put on quarantine for preventive measures.
Montero was confirmed infected on Wednesday evening, three days after joining an estimated 120,000 people through Madrid for International Women’s Day demonstration.
The demonstration was held just hours before health officials detected a huge spike of infections.
In a statement issued by the Spanish royal family, it said, “Based on the recent public activities of HM the Queen and the information transmitted by the Government, as a preventive measure indicated by the health authorities, their Majesties have carried out the corresponding COVID detection test this morning.point 468 |

This comes after King Felipe VI’s meeting with Council of Europe Secretary General Marija Pejcinovic that is scheduled for Thursday afternoon had been cancelled.
The rest of the cabinet will also undergo the testing and will announce the results on Thursday.
The ministers will hold an extraordinary meeting to discuss additional measures to fight the now pandemic and minimize the impact to the economy.
The said meeting will be held as originally planned, but future meetings shall be conducted remotely.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced on Tuesday the banning of all flights from Italy, and shut down schools and universities in and around Madrid – the epicenter of the Spanish outbreak.
There are currently about 3,000 confirmed cases in Spain, in which 1,400 are in Madrid.
