Sydney’s Girl School Offers Students Lessons On ‘Essential Skills’ For Car Maintenance


A girl’s school in Sydney is going viral for offering grade 11 pupils lessons on skills related to car maintenance.

The rather unique course is designed to let students gain command on how to look after a vehicle properly. Meanwhile, the news sent shockwaves when they termed the course as a part of essential skills.

In all honesty, not too many of us are familiar with how to change a tire, let alone, look after a car. However, this course is truly more than meets the eye. Here, the girls are learning how to change a car’s oil, measure tire pressure, and change the whole tire too!

Moreover, the school believes that these life lessons are super handy and will prove to a great resource in the girls’ overall skills set.

This is especially true for places like Australia where the roads are twice as long as usual. At the same time, the weather is quite hot. For this reason, a burst tire could mean a daunting and helpless situation.

For this reason, the school is making sure the girls never have to face difficulty relating to cars in their lives. While many don’t look at girls as getting their hands dirty for things like these, this course is changing norms for the better.

The viral school, Stella Maris College, involved all grade 11 students who took lessons from local car experts and educators, termed as Galmatic. Not only did the pupils learn some essential skills, but they also broke away from local stereotyping along the process.

Galmatic went on to post the news on their official website, explaining how they are specializing in equipping Australian women and teens feel at ease, behind the wheel. Moreover, the lessons comprise of a series of hands-on workshops as well as a number of online courses.
