The FBI has opened a civil rights investigation that led to the death of a Kansas teenager who was shot dead as he backed out of the garage.
A 17-year-old John Albers was shot 13 times by the police after they were called by his friends to check on him.
This horrible incident happened on 20th January in 2018, when Sheila and Steve Albers, the parents of the teen, went out for dinner with the two youngest sons.
According to the parents, their 17-year-old son, John Albers was in a crabby mood and didn’t want to go out for dinner with them, so he stayed at home.
A half-hour later, Sheila started getting messages that John is not safe as he had posted suicidal ideations on social media. After reading the post, John’s friends called the police to check on him.
When police reached the Albers’ house, they saw the teen backed out the car from the garage. And officer Clayton Jenison fired 13 shots at John when he was backing out the car from the garage.
According to the police Dashcam footage, when officers arrived at the Albers’ house, John was pulling out the car from the garage slowly down to the driveway.
On which officer shouted stop, but he continued to back out, and officer Jenison who was standing at the other side, fires two-shot. As a reaction, the car revers in a sharp circle towards officer Jenison, then the officer steps aside and fires 11 shots at him. When Albers came back home, they were informed that their son has passed, but they wouldn’t find out until the next day who killed him.
Despite the footage, Kansas police officer Clayton Jenison was found not guilty.point 204 |

On Thursday, it was announced by the FBI that they had opened the case to investigate.
Bridget Patton, the spokeswoman for the FBI, said that the Kansas City FBI Field Office, the Civil Rights Division, and the US Attorney’s office for the District of Kansas reopened a civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of an Overland Park teen, John Albers.point 467 |

After the announcement of reopening the case, Sheila Albers said that they are very thankful to the FBI and the US Attorney for the district of Kansas for reopening the case and shed light on what Overland Park and our DA have been hiding.
