Texas Woman Files ‘$1BILLION’ Lawsuit After Being Hit With $9300 Electric Bill


A woman from Texas recently filed a lawsuit worth $1 billion after she received her staggering $9300 electricity bill.

Lisa Khoury who arises from Mount Belvieu in Texas mentioned how she was appalled beyond belief when her monthly electric bill arrived at her doorstep. Keeping in mind the mega winter storm that lashed the state, Lisa says that she and her husband were certainly not expecting this unwanted surprise.

According to her, the electricity bill soared from a mega $200 to a staggering $9340. On that note, she and her husband felt it was the right time to take action and hence went on filing the giant $ 1 billion lawsuits against the state’s electricity retailer Griddy Energy.

The mega winter storm Uri affected Texas the most when compared to other states, leaving millions of people without power as turbines froze and failed to function afterward.

Lisa’s class-action lawsuit was firmly filed on her behalf where she boldly accused the electric service provider of overcharging over 29,000 Texans, knowing well enough how consumers would be harmed along the way.

In addition, the lawsuit alleged how many customers received exorbitantly priced bills that went as far as $17,000. Now, Lisa seeks $1 billion as monetary relief for herself and all of those affected in this scenario.
