Twitter’s CFO is making some bold claims about Donald Trump’s Twitter ban recently.
According to media reports, the former US president will not be allowed to join Twitter again, even if he plans on running for office and wins. The shocking statement came in by the social media platform’s chief financial officer.
During a viral interview for CNBC on Wednesday, Twitter’s CFO was questioned on the former president’s privileges and whether or not they would be restored, in case he wins the bid for the presidency again.
On that note, the CFO Ned Segal cleared the air by mentioning how Donald Trump’s Twitter ban was a permanent matter and no reconciliation would be acceptable.
“Out policies work in such a manner that once you’re removed from our platform, you’re removed forever.
Whether you’re a commentator, a CFO, or even a former or current official of the public. You must remember that our policies are designed in such a manner of ensuring that users don’t incite violence. In case they do, they’re removed from the service and our policies make sure that they’re not allowed to come back.
The shockingly bold statements came to light after Trump’s impeachment trial in Congress picked up speed. And that’s when many people asked if the former US president would be allowed to enter back on Twitter, in case he’s acquitted of his charges of inciting violence in the Capitol on January 6th.
In case he is acquitted, Trump would be allowed to enter in future bids for the presidency or any other position of federal office. But that also means he won’t be allowed on Twitter.
Twitter took bold steps last month when it opted to bar Donald Trump from its platform. The news came as his supporters stormed the historic US Capitol building. The incident left 5 people dead and dozens injured.
Hence, Twitter claimed how it intended to permanently suspend Donald Trump’s account due to the further risk of inciting violence.
