“I have a great love for all the people of our world, but as you know, at one point China tried to say-maybe they stopped now – that it was caused by American soldiers. That can’t happen. It’s not going to happen. Not as long as I’m president. It comes from China,” he said.

A conspiracy theory has been advanced by some Chinese officials that the American military carried the coronavirus to their shores. Health experts say it originated in a Wuhan meat market where endangered animals have been butchered.

And China has taken retaliatory measures against the United States. Officials there announced on Tuesday Beijing would expel American journalists working for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.

Trump fought back when a reporter said the word ‘ Chinese Virus’ has a stigma surrounding it that is perceived as discriminatory.
