Russian Weightlifter Fractures Both Knees As ‘400kg Squat’ Goes Horribly Wrong


In one of the most painful incidents to occur on live television, one Russian weightlifter broke both of his knees during a squat.

Alexander Sedykh was attempting a 400kg squat when suddenly, things went haywire. In the end, he was left with a major injury that damaged both of his knee bones.

While Alexander is a unit himself, the challenge just proved to be too much for him. And while the brave soul stepped up to the plate to complete the might feat, it didn’t go according to plan. The challenge comprised of a back squat, while holding 400kg of weights. And that’s a staggering amount indeed for anyone to indulge upon.

The renowned Russian weightlifter is famous for competing in numerous World Raw Powerlifting Championships of the European Federation. And when the incident occurred, he was in the midst of it, near Moscow.

At the same time, a viral video clip was released where Sedykh is struggling with his attempt at the major squat. Moreover, you can clearly see his legs shaking and struggling as the heavyweight giant battles it out like a pro. When attempting to regain his balance without dropping any bar, he perseveres in the end. And that’s when he goes for the squat.

During the video, chilling sounds of his knees cracking under pressure are also heard. This is followed by Sedykh falling to the ground, buckling under his own weight. The Russian weightlifter then screams in agony and immense pain. He calls out for help, at which his medical team rushes by his side for aid and assistance.

Fortunately, Sedykh didn’t suffer major strains across his arms or any major impact over his back. And that’s because his spotters kept the bar behind the giant weightlifter, after letting go.
