One of the deadliest winter storms hit the US recently, leaving more than 2 and half million Texas citizens without power.
According to media reports, the power outrage massively affected the state of Texas on Monday afternoon. In the same way, experts mentioned how around 150 million American citizens are still under the ice or winter advisories. And that’s because Winter Storm Uri continues to lash countless states with its devastating effects.
From freezing temperatures to icy winds and plenty of snow, the National Weather Service is predicting it all. The sudden mega power outage in Texas took place as the wind turbines froze during Winter Storm Uri’s entry into the country. And that sent temperatures plunging down to a new record low.
At the same time, the weather conditions resulted in countless canceled flights with impacted traffic across numerous localities in the United States.
Currently, statistics confirm that power in Texas has still not been restored and that means over 2.7 million people are without any power. In the same way, another mega power outage struck Louisiana where 103,000 citizens lost power. Mississippi was next in line for the power devastation, where news reports confirmed how 51,000 people were affected by the power outage there.
In Dallas, authorities warned citizens not to call up 911 to report power outages as the department was already receiving an overwhelming number of calls for the same complaint.
Advisories for poor weather conditions are told to last as the impactful weather spreads from one coast to the next.
The NWS mentioned how the wicked weather was due to a great combination of very strong air pressures from the Arctic that supplied below-freezing temperatures as well as active storm tracks, leading to waves of high precipitation.
Other than the state of Texas, other common states where emergencies relating to grave weather concerns have been declared include Kansas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Alabama, Mississippi, and Oregon. Moreover, record-breaking low temperatures are also expected to hit most of the nation too.
