On other occasions, weddings follow a similar course. And just in case you happen to disagree, there’s one couple from Ecuador that’s proving all others wrong. The Ecuadorian pair was named as the world’s oldest couple. Yes, and they’re celebrating eight decades of marriage. How’s that for a world breaking record, sure to last generations.
With a combined age of 214 years and around 358 days- this pair is still going strong. The husband, 110, and his wife, 104, say they are still madly in love with each other. Yes, despite getting married in 1941, the couple simply can’t get enough of each other.
Julio Cesar Mora met his wife, Waldramina Quintero in 1934. And just seven years later, the couple decided to tie the knot. However, things weren’t as picture-perfect as it may seem. Yes, the couple reiterates how the start of their marriage wasn’t a bed of roses. They both faced opposition from family members. It was so bad that some disapproving members even refused to attend their wedding ceremony.
The couple was introduced via Julio’s cousin, who was actually paired to Waldramina’s fabulous cousin. How’s that for a close family affair? Moreover, the couple explains how they dated till the day of their wedding. And to be exact, that’s February 7th, 1941, in the city of Quito.
With so much controversy at hand, the ceremony was a very private and secretive affair. The couple reveals how only their Godparents, as well as close friends, attended the event. They further go on to reveal how their families opposed their relationship and hence didn’t want the marriage to occur.
Fortunately, that opposition didn’t’ make much of a difference, neither did it last long. However, with time and endued patience, they were both able to unite the sides. And that’s how they became the ultimate example as well as a fabulous reference for new generations.
