“On Sunday two beautiful young parents’ lives were tragically cut short on their drive home to collect their young children,” the page states.

“Those who knew Sabine and Jim Mather would describe them as a friendly, caring, and down to earth couple who were loved by everyone they met.”

The page has since raised more than $60,000 in one day.

Sabine’s cousin Fabienne McKirdy wrote on the page, “The children have lost their two parents and emotionally that’s hugely devastating in itself and it’s also devastating from a financial expense.”

“I think the death of two people like a double tragedy with the children losing both their parents does definitely touch a chord with people because it’s just such a devastating thing to occur.”

“You just can’t comprehend it. The reality of the fact that two people have just disappeared is such a heavy thing to absorb,” she continued.
