Washington DC is on high alert amid security threats looming over the entire country, before Biden’s inauguration day.
According to recent reports from confirmed sources, President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration rehearsal was canceled too. The inauguration rehearsal was set for Sunday and now has been reportedly moved to Monday.
The news comes as the state deployed more than 20,000 National Guard troops to protect as well as fortify the capital. The exact date of the inauguration was set for next Wednesday.
At the same time, the FBI’s director, Christopher Wray also mentioned how his agents detected massive online threats that can’t be taken for granted.
The teams are investigating all possible links to those that might be planning out violent unrest in the capital. He also mentioned how most of the threats received were through ‘suspicious online chatter. ’
For this reason, the country is doing whatever it can to when it comes to protecting the public ahead of Joe Biden’s big day of swearing into office.
Other internal reports revealed how around 50 agencies, as well as private companies, referred to as the MACC, will operate out of the Secret Service field.
In the same way, SWAT teams, the FBI, as well as the Department of Defense with Amtrak will join the task force.
In other news, Biden’s team also canceled the Amtrak trip that was scheduled from Wilmington to Washington, due to increased security concerns. The new president will be inaugurated on Wednesday, January 20th.
Usually, a Presidential inauguration classically draws in masses of visitors, coming in hundreds of thousands. However, due to the recent threat of the pandemic looming around the globe, all the ceremonies are getting scaled back dramatically.
These warnings come in light of last week’s deadly assault by MAGA supporters on the Capitol building. And keeping that in light, officials aren’t willing to take any more chances when it comes to security and safeguarding the rights of the public.
