The reunion special of the hit television series ‘FRIENDS’ is receiving plenty of criticism from fans who expressed their great disappointment for not including any black celebrity in the reunion’s line-up.
Many were quick to call out the famous television series’ producers for including all-white stars for the reunion special, which showed how much they preferred a lack of diversity in terms of guests expected to make a guest appearance.
The one-off episode of the all-time favorite and ever-so-popular sitcom has sparked a lot of intrigue and interest in fans when the producers went about unveiling the stars’ line-up. But HBO, which is the main broadcaster for the show received the heat from plenty of critics who failed to understand their basis of selection.
The show is reported to air on the 27th of May in the United States, which is known to be the last of the original series that captured so many people’s hearts from around the globe.
Some of the faces that are reportedly going to make a guest appearance include singing sensation Lady Gaga, star footballer David Beckham and Malala Yousafzai, who is a famous Pakistani activist in the field of female education. In the same way, fans couldn’t control their excitement when the show revealed how BTS, the famous Korean Pop boyband would also be appearing on the show. However, the lineup did not include any Black stars by miles.
Shockingly, even Ross’s girlfriend who is Dr. Charlie Wheeler, played by actress Aisha Tyler, was also not a part of the lineup, confirmed reports.
As soon as the final lineup was revealed, the decision sparked great outrage and fury amongst critics and fans through social media who felt the need to raise their voice on the issue.
One fan went as far as mentioning how the show tried to convince so many people that New York City does not have any black or even brown people living there, for nearly 10 seasons. And now, they plan on releasing a reunion with a total of 25 celebs, without not even one of them being a black person.
