The bodies of the missing couple, 73 and 78, have finally been found at the bottom of a well in Mexico days after they texted their family that they were going to the beach.
73-year-old Kathy Harvey and 78-year-old Ian Hirschsohn, both from San Diego, disappeared while having a vacation near El Socorrito, south of San Quintin, CBS8 reported.
Their bodies were discovered in a well in north Mexico days after their vehicle was found in a remote area.
An official told Daily Mail that Baja California officers have identified a male suspect. They were in the process of getting an arrest warrant.
The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the remains found from the bottom of the well were identified as that of the San Diego couple, who were reported missing on September 2.
In an interview with CBS8, Harvey’s son, Robert, said he received a text message from his mother on August 28 saying they were going to a beach or a gold mine. They were scheduled to return on August 31 but they never heard from the couple again.
Mexican authorities found their abandoned car in a remote area in Ensenada days before the bodies were discovered.
Robert told CBS8: “She was really enjoying retirement and had multiple groups of friends,” adding the couple often stayed in the community of expats near El Socorrito and they loved traveling together.
“She loved walking and traveling. She had a huge bucket list of where she wanted to go,” the grieving son said.
This comes as remains of another man was discovered on a beach in Cabo Pulmo.
65-year-old Craig Harrison was found lifeless on the beach with stab wounds, Baka California Sur state prosecutor’s office confirmed. He was wearing a bag filled with rocks before the body ended up in the ocean.
