The Love Of 71 Years: Ron And Pat Lost Their Battle To COVID-19 Gracefully While Holding Hands

Ron and Pat, a couple for 71 years, gave in to the pernicious pandemic five days apart at Worthing Hospital, West Sussex.

The couple initially was in their respective wards. But upon request and doctors’ intervention, they were shifted to the same ward.

Pat silently lost her battle on May 18 while Ron followed precisely five days later.

Pat and Ron’s daughter Nikki recognized the dedication exhibited by the hospital personnel towards her parents.

Nikki verbalized the efforts made by the hospital staff.  “They put mum and dad in a four-bed bay, just the two of them, so they could hold hands for the last four days before Mum passed away in her sleep”, she said.

She reiterated that her dad was the carrier which swamped all the family members into this unpleasant experience. The couple left the world while holding hands proclaiming their unending love for one another.

The fresh blood met outside a post office Ron aged 22 while Pat was living her last year as a teen. As fate had it for them. Ron was standing outside the Royal Navy with his ride when Pat arrived to get herself cash.

The couple tied the knot on April 13, 1949 at the Broadwater Parish Church.

Ron and Pat funeral services were cohered on Monday June 8th in their homeland, sealing their love for forever.

Nikki forwarded her condolences to both her parents and expressed her dejection for not being physically there for them in their last days.

Ron was a dedicated footballer in his time but his bubble of interest popped when he was diagnosed with endocarditis; a heart disorder.

Fast forwarding three years, Ron got espoused to the love of his life and lived his football relish with his better half.

Ron also managed to buy himself a general store through the money collected in the Ron Appeal Fund which was formed to help Ron financially.

The couple rowed the boat of their life quite successfully till their last breath.
