Florida Man Fatally Shoots Burger King Employee Over Delayed Food Order

A man shot and killed a newly employed Burger King worker in Florida after his got upset that her order took too long to complete.

37-year-old Kelvis Rodriguez-Tormes was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm, destruction of evidence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The victim, Desmond Joshua, was  working about 7:15pm Saturday when the drive-through line became backed up and food orders were slow to come out.

One of the customers, a woman in a Honda Accord, threatened to bring her “man” back to the restaurant, in which the store responded by giving her a refund for her $40 order and was told to leave.

A few moments later, she returned with Rodríguez Tormes, and the latter demanded Joshua to fight him.

Authorities recovered a video that showed Joshua in a physical altercation with a male who had him in a headlock, and a witness intervened to stop the fight.

After the witness pulled the two away from each other, Rodriguez-Tormes went to his truck and took out a gun, then shouted, “You got two seconds before I shoot you.”

Rodriguez-Tormes shot Joshua shortly after, and then fled the scene in a white truck while a black sedan also fled.

Joshua was suffering from a gunshot wound in the chest at the parking lot when the authorities arrived, and was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Joshua had just started working at the Burger King two days earlier.

Burger King released a statement about the shooting.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic incident that took place at the Burger King on 7643 E. Colonial Drive and passing of team member Desmond Joshua,” said Burger King North America President Chris Finazzo.

“At Burger King, the safety of team members and guests is our top priority. The franchisee who owns and operates the restaurant is fully cooperating with authorities on this matter. Any questions should be directed to local authorities.”
