A veteran teacher from Florida has been arrested Friday being accused of sexually abusing at least three minor students over the years.
41-year-old Jeanette Valle-Tejeda, a Hialeah Senior High School teacher, has been with the Miami-Dade County school system for 20 years.
According to the police report, they were first alerted to the case when one of Valle-Tejeda’s victims stepped forward and talked to the principal at the school.
Valle-Tejeda allegedly “groomed the victim as a mother figure, providing financial assistance and other needs,” and the victim often stayed at Valle-Tejeda’s home overnight.
Investigations found that both Valle-Tejeda and the victim showered together, engage in sexual acts, and skipped class at the same time on 11 days.
The two are also reportedly going to the beach, restaurants, or Valle-Tejeda’s house, and would sign the student out of school without her mother’s permission.
Another victim claimed that Valle-Tejeda abused her for three years, and asked for her number for phone sex, and reminding her to delete the conversations as soon as they were done.
Meanwhile, the third victim said that Valle-Tejeda brought her to bars and restaurants when she was 17, but stopped hanging out at the teacher’s home.
The report added that a parent once complained about Valle-Tejeda inviting students to her home in 2018 and offering them alcohol.
In a statement, the Miami-Dade County Public School system expressed that they are “deeply disturbed” by the allegations.
“As soon as the claims surfaced last month, the employee was removed from the school setting and Miami-Dade Schools Police launched an investigation,” the statement reads.
“The District will be terminating her employment and she will be prevented from seeking future work with this school system.”
Valle-Tejeda is facing various charges of child abuse, sexual battery, and committing sex acts with a minor, and is now being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond.
