The promotion agency of Floyd Mayweather, former five-division world champion, has taken it to Twitter to confirm the news of the boxer’s offer.
Mayweather has offered the family of George Floyd to pay for the funeral services alongside four memorial funerals in Houston, Charlotte, Minnesota and the fourth one is not confirmed yet.
According to Hollywood Unlocked, the 43-year-old Jr Mayweather found out the CEO of his music label company, Anzel Jenning, grew up with George Floyd in Houston. He then assumed it was the right thing in his heart to send Anzel Jennings to reach out to Floyd’s family with the proposal of paying for funeral services expenditures which the family gratefully accepted.
Mayweather is not an active player anymore as he retired in 2017 after taking on Conor McGregor. He participates in exhibitions like Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018.
Several noteworthy celebrities have come forward to support the #blacklivesmatter social movement like Steve Bisciiotti, the owner of Baltimore Ravens of NFL. The CEO has vowed to collect $1m to reform social justice and benefit black people going through injustice in the country.
He thinks the damage is so huge and the gravity of the loss is irreparable as the African-American community feels pained deeply.
This all started with a while officer Derek Chauvin knelt on a black man George Floyd’s neck for a straight 8 minute causing him to lose his life.The officer has been charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.
The shocking incident has triggered nation-wide agitation against the treatment of black people. Hundreds of people are taking it to the streets to demonstrate their emotions as they feel this is how they are treated every day.
The sad part is, this tragic and heated event occurred right after the deaths of two other black citizens of the US namely Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor in February and March respectively.
