A video of a Georgia cop who violently arrested a Black woman for no apparent reason is going viral.
The officer barges into the woman’s home, without explaining anything. Moreover, he shoves her towards the ground, screaming that she’s under arrest. As the woman tries to resist, he tases her, causing panic amongst her loved ones.
The latest footage of the police officer from Gwinnett County shows the young man approaching the black woman. She is sitting peacefully on her porch when suddenly, he attempts to arrest her violently.
Meanwhile, the police officer refuses to identify himself or ever clarify what was her alleged crime. This sends panic amongst her family members and friends, who are gathered nearby. Likewise, it’s legal to resist unlawful arrest but this man just wouldn’t listen to her plea for help.
The video highlights how the black woman arrested, Kyndesia Smith, gets up and goes behind her friend, Ayra Thomas, who is sitting on her chair.
He approaches her forcefully, yelling “you are under arrest.” Regardless of the mere fact that Smith didn’t fight back, he creates unneeded commotion and panic. And that’s when Thomas almost falls off of her chair.
Suddenly, the officer plunges the woman into the ground, pulling out his taser. He orders her to remain on the ground after detaining her.
And that’s when he shoots into the air, after almost 21 seconds. The women in the background are yelling and screaming for help as they ask the police officer for his name. However, he blatantly refuses to give it.
This is against the law, which states that every officer must identify themselves, when asked who they are, by a member of the public. Meanwhile, Michael Oxford, the officer involved, yells at Smith turn over, and puts her hands behind her back. Then, he threatens to tase her again.
Terrified friends shout relatives to call the police as Smith gets manhandled, face down, into the ground. This is the point in time where Officer Oxford handcuffs, leaving her helplessly crying for help. On the other hand, police reports regarding the incident suggest that Smith was accused of throwing a bottle towards her neighbors.
