Pakistan’s prime minister Imran Khan contracted the deadly coronavirus recently, despite receiving a shot of the vaccine recently.
According to media reports, both the country’s prime minister as well as his wife are currently in isolation, after testing positive for the virus. The shocking diagnosis comes as the nation grapples with the deadly third wave of the virus.
Health reports revealed how the deadly virus has almost killed around 13,800 people while infecting more than 620,000 individuals in the Pakistani nation.
At the same time, limited testing in the country means that the actual figures are much higher than what is being portrayed by the media.
Just recently, the 68-year-old prime minister received the vaccine on Thursday, with the entire incident getting recorded and captured on live national television. The prime minister hoped many citizens would take part in the nationwide drive for the vaccination that has been made available to front-line health care workers as well as senior citizens who lie in the 60 years and above elderly age group.
Imran Khan received the Chinese manufactured Sinopharm vaccine on Thursday, with over one million doses being contributed by China in the form of donations to Pakistan by the country’s capital, Beijing.
According to local media outlets, Imran Khan was suffering from symptoms that ranged from a mild cough to mild fever, as mentioned by his spokesperson. Later, news reports confirmed how the prime minister has tested positive for the virus on Saturday.
On the other hand, the prime minister’s close aides were also quick at putting distance between both the diagnosis as well as the vaccine’s first jab, which comprises of two doses.
The Prime Minister’s close aide urged the public and media to not link the diagnosis to the vaccine as he confirmed how a patient’s immunity develops, just a few weeks after taking the vaccine.
He also hopes and urged the public to vaccinate their elders as well as other loved ones too with a message to remain ‘careful’.
