Police have charged 18-year old Damire Palmer with felony assault or attacking and beating a White employee at Macy’s in Flint Township.
On June 15, Damire with his brother Damarquay, who is a rapper known as FT Quay, went to Macy’s store at Genesee Valley Center in Flint Township where they asked a white employee about the size of a shirt.
The employee helped them and got back to his phone saying “no one just some ni**er”. This provoked young Damire and he started beating the employee which was filmed by his brother.
The disturbing footage shows Dalmire punching the guy in the face and he is asking him “what are you doing this for?”.
As the employee tried to keep Dalmire away using his hands, he got more violent saying “don’t touch me”. The employee is seen apologising “I am sorry I did not touch you”. “I am sorry”. However, Palmer attacks him with some more punches before leaving him alone.
The cops had since been looking for two Palmer brothers and finally charged one of them, Damire, with one felony assault. Damarquay is not charged with anything.
While talking about the shocking incident, the cops said the employee did not use any slur nor it is recorded in the video.
According to them, the angry teenager’s act was unprovoked. The department also believes the employee did not use any slur as his history does not suggest that. Moreover, he was on phone call with another employee in another state and he said he did not hear any kind of a word.
David Leyton, the Genesee county prosecutor, said this kind of behavior is not acceptable rather it is criminal.
He believes that the punishment for felony assault in Michigan’s law is quite enough for Dalmire who could get a 10-year prison sentence if convicted.
The police have not arrested him yet. Nonetheless, the 18-second clip has sparked an outrage on social media with people demanding justice for both parties.
